kota tinggi geog trip

ok i think i'm using the com less and less nowadays..think i'll update like once a week or smthg in future..haha.. anyways its been a pretty eventful week..school's finally out and just had a geog trip to kota tinggi on the 8 and 9th.We were staying in a rainforest resort..it was an interesting experience to be continually surrounded by nature and hills and all but the bugs there were annoying the hell out of me..couldnt eat a meal without having to swat flies away every minute..=p the rooms were set on the side of a hill and we literally had to hike up to the room which was on the 4th "level"..it wasnt exactly luxury-hotel-like but there was a four-poster bed there and it was really cosy. On our 1st day there, we waded thru a stream which was pretty deep at times..(can't say exactly how deep, sworn to secrecy..haha) i got a few cuts and bruises cause it was a pretty rough channel but it was an experience of a lifetime..it aint smthg u can do without a guide or smthg u'd wanna bring ur whole family along to..the parents would probably freak out or smthg.. ;D we had to collect some data on the stream and we got to use some pretty cool equipment, like something tt helped us determine the gradient of the stream, ranging poles tt helped measure the depth of the stream etc.. we found clay deposits of white, yellow and reddish-brown coz it was a granite area (f.y.i: granite weathers into clay, hence the presence of the clay) and it fascinated me to no end..haha.. one of the guides had a leech in his shoe and didnt even realise until he got back to the room he was sharing with the other male teachers, which happened to be the room beside us, and the leech was just huge and bulging..eeeww... haha.. anyways later in the night after the stream trekking, wash-up and dinner, a bus took us to this place where we went on a river cruise to see fireflies..on the way there, some guys came up with a sing-along session thing tt was pretty funny..everyone was just massacre-ing the songs..the song "lonely" was one of the funnier ones coz when it came to the really high part, everyone was like screaming in a high pitched voice..just imagine almost the entire bus screaming like tt and u'd prob get the idea how silly it sounded.. and the same thing happened on the way back from the firefly cruise.. =D the fireflies were really interesting coz it was like looking at christmas lights on the trees only they were natural "lights". We couldnt capture them on pictures though coz it was too dark and the flash of the camera would totally drown out their light. After coming back from the firefly cruise, we went up to the room to chill and on the way up i thought i saw a bat or smthg tt flew into a small hut-like place which was probably meant to give the pple a place to relax..it turned out tt there was practically a whole colony of bats on the ceiling of the hut as i realised the following day.. but the funny thing was tt they were so small tt they actually looked kinda cute..hahaha..wouldnt want one flying at me tho.. =D anyways back at the room, we were just sitting around talking and eating sweets and taking pictures..i'll post some up here later.. =DOn the 2nd day (i.e. today) we went to the kota tinggi waterfall and i decided not to go into the water coz it was far too cold and after all i didnt particularly want to get wet again for fear of insufficient clothing..haha..i managed to do a spot of shopping for trinkets there and took quite a few funny shots of the area and the rest of the group in the water..in the afternoon we were at city plaza for lunch and some shopping, me nush and kayjal went to vivo's to have pizza for lunch..too bad they don't have it in singapore, its quite a nice place..and honestly, malaysian food's a lot cheaper than singapore food.. =p after tt we headed back to singapore.. ok so tts pretty much it..
